We Don’t Waste believes nutritious food should feed people, not fill landfills. 40% of food produced in the US ends up in the landfill, and with increasing numbers of Coloradans experiencing hunger and food insecurity, it’s this organization’s mission to stop hunger by stopping waste!
We Don’t Waste reduces hunger and waste by rescuing food from venues, caterers, distributors, and restaurants, then delivering it free of charge to more than 90 hunger-fighting agencies in the Denver Metro area. We Don’t Waste also provides fresh food directly to individuals and families at eight monthly Mobile Food Markets, which are located in food deserts (areas with limited or no access to healthy food). Since 2009, We Don’t Waste has saved and distributed over 34 million pounds of food—protecting the environment and feeding people.
Because We Don’t Waste never charges food donors or food recipients for food, the organization is reliant on support from the community to fund its vital work. And with 1 in 3 Coloradans currently experiencing food insecurity, your support is more important than ever! By donating, volunteering, and helping to spread the word, YOU can help We Don’t Waste reduce hunger and food waste in our community!
