Adventure Awaits at the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park

Take your family on an unforgettable vacation filled with one-of-a-kind, endless adventures you won’t find anywhere else!

Experience true Colorado excitement this summer at one of the state’s most iconic and must-see outdoor attractions. Just two hours south of Denver, the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park, known as America’s Bridge, provides stellar family entertainment and fun. Visitors can walk across one of the world’s highest suspension bridges or fly across the gorge on America’s highest zip line.

The newest adventure in the park is the Royal Gorge Via Ferrata. This is a perfect family outing for an unforgettable experience. Not only can visitors enjoy the breathtaking scenery from the Royal Gorge Bridge, they can now view the Royal Gorge Bridge from below! Guests can climb the sheer granite walls of the Royal Gorge with the aid of iron rungs and steel cables to keep them connected at all times. This Colorado attraction has climbing routes 400-600 feet into the gorge and is designed to provide a challenging experience for the beginner to the advanced climbers. No need to worry about buying equipment; this is a guided experience with helmets, harnesses, and shoes (available in most sizes) provided. The Royal Gorge Via Ferrata is suitable for ages 10 and up. Reservations are highly recommended.

For a more daring, fast paced experience, the Royal Gorge Cloudscraper zip line by ZipRider flies guests a thousand feet over the river. This hands-free, hair-raising ride featuring state-of-the-art harnesses and braking systems is rated the #1 bucket list item in Colorado by The Travel Channel. Seriously!

Up for something more heart-pounding? Experience the World’s Scariest Skycoaster sitting on the very edge of the gorge. The Cloudscraper sends riders 2,200 feet across the Royal Gorge with nothing but air under your feet. The Skycoaster is like a giant swing, only wilder! Up to three harnessed riders are pulled up to a 100 foot tower and cut loose. Screams of joy (okay, maybe a little fear) can be heard as riders fly 50 mph out and over the Royal Gorge.

The world class Aerial Gondolas, traversing 2,200 feet across the gorge, provide a more relaxing adventure. Sit back and enjoy the spectacular views through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Best seat in the house, guaranteed!

Strolling across the 1,260 foot long bridge is enough excitement for many! Take your picture on bridge next to the Colorado State flag, or one of the other 49 state flags if you, or your guests, have roots in another state. The bridge was trademarked in 2019 as America’s Bridge® as a nod to the American ingenuity and roughly 80 American workers who constructed this engineering feat back in 1929.

Not only are awesome views and thrilling experiences part of this adventure, the park adds special entertainment during the summer months. Elk Park Amphitheater features live music throughout the summer. The Birds of Prey Show and the History of the Royal Gorge video are featured in the Plaza Theater. Tommy Knockerland, a children’s playland, featuring a beautifully crafted carousel and climbing structures is a joy for the kiddos. They will have a blast at the splash pad, wax hand store and sluice box. Check the website for availability during the pandemic crisis for these attractions.

Don’t forget shopping and dining! The Visitor Center, with its mammoth deck overlooking the gorge, is the perfect place to shop, dine, or just relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Grab a burger at Café 1230 in the Visitor Center or a lip-smacking, napkin-required lunch at Bridgeview BBQ on the south rim. Due to capacity limits at this time in Café 1230, food can be ordered to go. Sit down with the family at one of the many outdoor picnic areas located throughout the park to savor the views and your meal.

The park, including the Bridge and Visitor Center is open 365 days a year. Check the website www.royalgorgebridge.com for more information, to purchase tickets online, or book reservations for the Royal Gorge Via Feratta.
