Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver builds and preserves affordable homeownership. The organization partners with hardworking, local families who need a hand up (not a hand out) to build or improve a place they can call home.
Safe, stable and affordable housing has never been more important. The families Habitat partners with know this better than anyone… from holding down full-time jobs and helping children with remote learning, to trying to put healthy meals on the table, they work hard to keep everything afloat. Throughout the pandemic, they have had to endure living conditions that make it hard to remain healthy and safe — conditions like overcrowding, unsafe neighborhoods, and rent payments that consume too much of their monthly budgets.
Habitat’s partner families have not lost hope as they keep their sights set on the future. They are working hard to help build their own homes alongside volunteers, and purchase them with an affordable mortgage.
Habitat knows that owning a stable home has a transformational effect on families’ lives that impacts education, health and financial stability. Research shows that children who grow up in a Habitat Denver home have a 95% high school graduation rate! That’s 25 percentage points higher than Denver’s average.
“I can honestly say that because Habitat provided stability – it helped me secure a future,” shares Naiely, who moved into her Habitat home as a teenager. “In the first year of living in our new home, my GPA went from a 1.6 to a 3.7.”
Every donation makes a difference this holiday season. Thank you for helping Habitat for Humanity build safety, stability, and brighter futures.
